M1 - DISTRIBUTION AND MARKETING

YOUTUBE_______________________________________________________________________

Youtube is a free platform that allows all sorts of creators to put themselves and their work out there. Channels have even been created on youtube for the sole purpose of showing music videos, such as VEVO. We have created a youtube channel for our group work called Dreamscape Productions. Did you know that, according to brandwatch.com, in 2018, 95% of the most watched videos were music videos. That shows a huge market for this kind of thing and also that people value visuals alongside music. It's also a huge platform for students making short films and videos.

SOCIAL MEDIA__________________________________________________________________

Related imageTwitter is an incredibly well known platform for marketing but may be a bit harder as a starting platform. There are a lot of artists on it looking to expand their fanbase.
The artist doesn't have that much social media presence, due to only being on Instagram and Facebook as of now, so we decided to create a twitter profile for the artist. These social media profiles on the different networking sites means the artist would have more places where the music could be reached by fans easier and therefore have a greater distribution. Social media sites such as Instagram and Twitter are more popular with millennials (50% for Twitter and 66% for Instagram)**  and Facebook is as equally as popular with millennials and generation X (58%)** so this will make the artist's music reach the intended target audience and a younger audience so it will expand the fan base. In addition to the social media profiles, we have decided to create a group YouTube channel to further distribute the music video. This is because 62% of YouTube users are male* and the 35+ age group is one on the faster growing users of YouTube* so, the music video will reach the target audience for the artist.

WEBSITE________________________________________________________________________

We're going to use our blogs to promote, also. All of us have Blogger to show our processes and also the finished video. It would be nice to link our blogs whenever we show the video so that people can follow along with our process.

MUSIC CHANNELS____________________________________

As well as a social media presence we could also screen the music video on more traditional forms of media e.g. music channels on TV such as 4Music, Kerrang! and MTV channels (MTV Rocks/ MTV Hits). It's actually very viable to attempt to get a music video we make onto one of these channels.
Kerrang is the genre that our music video would fall under and I've seen videos similar to the one we've proposed. MTV also has a
section for rock and indie rock, featuring

RADIO__________________________________________________________________________

In the UK, the most popular radio station is Radio 2, with over 15 million weekly listeners. Second is heart radio which  has become the most popular in commercial radio and now extends to 33 stations across the UK, reaching more than 9.8 million people every week. Seeing that these are the most popular, we would strive to target these radio stations with our song, 'Claws' which might lead to the artist gathering a following on social media, seeing and discovering the music video that we will make.

STREAMING SERVICES__________________________________________________________

We can use Spotify, iTunes and Apple Music to distribute the song, linking also to the video.
